Thompson Hotel Nashville – Staying in The Gulch

Visiting Nashville, Tennessee is an overwhelmingly fun time… so fun that it now has the nickname Nashvegas! After our stay in Germantown and exploring East Nashville, we decided to branch out and stay in The Gulch, at Thompson Hotel Nashville. This was our first time staying at a Thompson Hotel and it has turned me into a loyal Thompson Hotel customer. I have so many great things to share about Thompson Hotel Nashville!

Thompson Hotel Nashville opened its doors in 2016 and has already been recognized in the travel industry for its iconic hotel brand and top notch hospitality. Nashville Scene, an alternative newsweekly in Nashville, nominated Thompson Hotel Nashville as “Best Hotel“! While being nominated for best hotel, Condé Nast Traveler recognized Thompson Nashville as being one of the newer hotels in Music City, among many other epic hotels in the area.

We chose to stay in the King Corner Room, where we would have a view of The Gulch from the iconic floor-to-ceiling windows… soaking in all of that natural sunlight. The King Corner Room was truly a delight, especially being on an end room with the windows wrapping around the full corner.

Location

What I love about staying in Thompson Hotels is that the location is always incredible. Thompson Hotel Nashville is located in The Gulch, an upscale neighborhood with lots of shopping boutiques, art murals, and amazing restaurants in very close proximity. The Gulch is just a mile from Broadway, where all the honky tonks and live music are.

We were able to safely walk from Thompson Hotel Nashville to the Nissan stadium, where the Titans play (about two miles) and to Broadway (one mile). I’ll admit.. the walk to the Titans stadium was a little ambitious…

Thompson Nashville is in very walkable location with a ton of restaurants, bars, a brewery, and the famous wings mural. We were able to walk to the Nissan stadium from the hotel (about a 2 mile walk). It brought us down Broadway and through a ton of night life.

Right Around the Corner – 5 minute walk

Barista Parlor – breakfast

One of our favorite breakfast spots was just around the corner from Thompson Nashville, Barista Parlor! We eat breakfast sandwiches and drink coffee here every time we are in Nashville. We tried it during our first trip to Nashville when we stayed in Germantown, which was a walkable distance from there too.

Thompson Hotels are always in the best locations. During our stay at Thompson Seattle, we were just 250 feet away from Pike Place Market and were able to walk to Capitol Hill, Chihuly Glass Garden, and the Space Needle!

Yazoo Brewing Company – brewery

After walking through The Gulch, maybe doing some shopping or waiting in line for the famous Nashville Wings mural, you’ll want to relax at Yazoo Brewing Company for an ice cold beer. Don’t want to relax? Take a Yazoo beer tour through the brewery!

The Gulch is a bumpin’ with lots of restaurants, but Thompson Nashville has a few on-site food and drink options for those wanting the ultimate rest and relaxation and staying indoors.

L.A. Jackson – rooftop bar

L.A. Jackson is a swanky lounge, indoor and outdoor rooftop bar, that overlooks the Nashville skyline — it’s perfect during those warm summer nights! On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, you can enjoy the music with a live DJ. Their cocktails are beautiful and seem to be a work of art with flowers, vibrant colors, and all around: FUN AND UNIQUE!

The two cocktails I tried (and loved):

  • Frozé (frozen rosé)
  • Things are Changing (pickers vodka, cucumber, lime, and cava)

Follow L.A. Jackson on Instagram to see all of these fancy, work of art cocktails.

Marsh House – restaurant

Southern cuisine is always the right answer, so be sure to check out Thompson Hotel Nashville’s on-site restaurant, Marsh House. New Orleans Chef, John Besh’s thoughts on Marsh House and Thompson Hotel restaurants, success to him here looks like: Happy guests. Like honestly, all I give a shit about is that each person sitting in there walks away feeling like we cared about them.

The full Q&A interview with John Besh can be found here.

Killebrew – coffeeshop

Rest assured, you don’t have to travel far to get your morning cup of coffee. Make your way downstairs to the lobby to pick out some pastries and order your favorite latte at Killebrew. I’m a croissant kinda gal.

Hospitality

Thompson Hotels has superior hospitality to any hotel I’ve ever experienced. They accommodated an early check in, came in and closed our curtains for us, and it was the small touches like that, that we loved and will have us coming back for more.

Thompson Hotels aim to “seek out one-of-a-kind, unique properties and reshape them into timeless destinations to create the kind of distinct experiences that can transform your day, your trip, or even your life.”

Until next time, Thompson Nashville!

Thompson Hotels blew us away with their hospitality, design, and floor-to-ceiling windows at their Nashville location. You will love being in the center of it all and being able to easily and safely walk to all the restaurants, breweries, and bars with live music. I can’t wait for you to enjoy a cocktail on their rooftop bar either 🙂

We loved our stay at Thompson Nashville so much, that we decided to stay at Thompson Seattle this past December (another awesome location)!
