Thompson Hotels – Where to Stay in Seattle

In December, we took a quick trip to Seattle and it turned out to be one of the best vacations we’ve had… full of friends, food, and a fantastic time to celebrate our friends getting married! We decided to stay at one of the Thompson Hotels, Thompson Seattle… and it was absolutely amazing!

The location was excellent and it’s only 250 feet away from Pike Place Market, and still walkable to all the Seattle ‘must sees’, like the Chihuly Glass Garden and the Museum of Pop Culture. The view from our hotel room, especially at sunset, overlooking Elliott Bay was stunning… I felt like someone needed to pinch me!

Exploring Seattle during the holidays was a surreal feeling. The rainy streets were lined with Christmas lights and holiday wreaths… it was the coziest, most happiest time of the year and I was over the moon about being there to experience it!

Planning a trip to Seattle? Keep reading to see why I loved our stay at Thompson Seattle and why I would stay here again… and again… and again.

After we checked in, I will never forget the feeling when we first stepped foot into our room and saw our waterfront view from the floor to ceiling windows. We got the best of both worlds with this room when it came to the view: we could see some of the city on 1st Street, the hustle and bustle of Pike Place Market, the boats leaving the port in Elliott Bay, and the iconic Great Wheel.

The room we stayed in was the King Bed with Water View Deluxe. I would highly recommend a room with a water view.

Thompson Hotels Seattle is in an excellent and very walkable location for travelers who are wanting to experience luxury, convenience, and comfort on a quick weekend getaway.

There are a lot of bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping near by too! Patagonia, Free People, the iconic Biscuit Bitch, and so much more are all right in the area.

The Seattle Tacoma International Airport is a quick trip to and from the hotel — it took us about 20-30 minutes in the car share lane. Thompson Seattle offers to arrange a car service for rides to and from the air port. Overnight valet service is an option too for ~54.00.

Hospitality

Thomspon Hotels provide high-caliber hospitality in all that they do — they have gone above and beyond with both of our stays in Seattle and Nashville (I can’t wait to visit Chicago and DC locations)! There are a lot of small gestures that can make a big impact on people traveling!

With both of our stays, Thompson Hotels have accommodated an early check in for us. This made my day (both times)! After a long flight, I know we can’t wait to check into our rooms to shower, rest, and to get situated before heading out to explore the city.

Concierge

I always suggest checking in with the concierge team! The concierge is there to help you make the most of your trip and will be able to make suggestions for you based on what you are interested in, whether it’s restaurants, bars, spas, shopping… you name it.

Before our trip, I emailed our concierge, Mali, to learn more about the restaurants in the area and to see if it would be possible to request to stay on one of the higher floors of the hotel (for optimal views of Elliott Bay). Mali suggested a handful of great restaurants and she made it possible for us to stay on the 11th floor of Thompson Seattle!

Once we checked in, we stopped over to the concierge desk to talk to Barry, he helped us understand the different neighborhoods in Seattle, what was walkable, and recommended plenty of delicious Italian and seafood restaurants to try.

Thank you, Mali and Barry!

Eat and Drink

Room service and wine — that’s a yes for me when I’m traveling. Thompson Seattle offers a special happy hour each night with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. I’ll never turn down a glass of wine 😉

Thompson Hotels surprised us with a complimentary bottle of red wine delivered to our door with a handwritten note, letting us know they were happy to have us staying with them. It was the NICEST THING EVER! I’m telling you, Thompson Hotels will make you feel so special and will brighten your day.

The Nest is Thompson Seattle’s famous rooftop bar known for its incredible view — overlooking Pike Place Market and the mountains. During the winter, you can be cozy on the rooftop knowing the roof is covered and the heat is on. The Nest has light bites available; oysters, scallops and more. The Nest’s handcrafted cocktails are heavenly, while the menu changes seasonally, I’m convinced all their cocktails are fantastic and refreshing!

Conversation – restaurant

Conversation is Thompson Hotels beautiful restaurant right next to the hotel lobby. We decided we would have room service from Conversation — we had charcuterie and dessert in bed. I love ordering room service! You know I am in ultimate relaxation vacation mode when I order room service.

Experiences

Thompson Seattle offers four one-of-a-kind experiences to explore Seattle on a more intimate level. Private tours and seaplane rides to explore Seattle?! Yes, please. All of these (below) sound like so much fun and like something we would love to do.

  • Scenic Seattle: enjoy the view of Seattle from a different angle… birds eye view from a seaplane!
  • The Market Experience: join the concierge team for a private tour through Pike Place Market — these Seattle natives will assist you with picking the best food and drinks from Pike Place Market.
  • Mingle with Mali: remember Mali from earlier who helped make our stay amazing? Join her for a 90 minute tour to different bars – it includes 3 locations and a cocktail at each!
  • Boutique with Barry: remember Barry too?! Join him to visit the most interesting, stylish boutiques while supporting the local businesses!

Since we were there for a wedding, we weren’t able to participate in these unique experiences, but we are definitely looking into it at our next Thompson stay!

Croissants at Pike Place Market

I loved staying so close to Pike Place Market because there are so many delicious places to eat at.  Le Panier, a little pastry shop at Pike Place Market, is right across from the hotel. It will teleport you to France, where you can enjoy a latte and a fresh pastry (baked that morning). My personal fav is the croissant… it’s SO GOOD and buttery!

Wondering where to eat at Pike Place Market since you’re right next door? That is our list (and recommendations) of all the restaurants we tried. We took ourselves on a world food tour through Pike Place Market because there was no one there that day because it was raining so much. We got LUCKY!

Until next time!

Incredible location, superior hospitality, outstanding views, and a rooftop bar… does it get any better than that when staying in a home away from home at Thompson Hotels? You’ll receive the warmest welcome when checking in – I hope you enjoy the walkable location and have the best time in Seattle!
