Coffee and Breakfast in Nashville – Barista Parlor

Apparently, Nashville knows how to do brunch. We saw numerous breakfast spots with lines out the door as we drove around Nashville on Sunday, but who wants to wait in line when they are ready for their morning coffee? Not me. That’s why the next time you’re in Nashville, consider visiting one of Barista Parlor’s locations.

We have breakfast at Barista Parlor every time we visit Nashville. They have plenty of seating and we’ve never had to wait.  It’s something I always look forward to and I even refuse to hit the road home without one of their iced lattes.

Location

As mentioned, Barista Parlor has a few locations and chances are your hotel is within walking distance of one of their locations. We originally discovered Barista Parlor while we were staying at Germantown Inn in Germantown. It was a quick five minute walk through the beautiful, historical neighborhood of Germantown.

The second time around, we stayed at Thompson Nashville in The Gulch. It didn’t take long to discover that Barista Parlor was a quick ten minute walk away from our hotel. You know you’re close when you start feeling surrounded by vibrant murals. It’s in a bright blue, brick building – you can’t miss it.

It seems like their locations are slightly off the beaten path and a little bit more secluded than a lot of the breakfast spots we saw in the city. I’m sure this helps eliminate some of the crowds – making it a *gasps* hidden gem.

Coffee Selection

Barista Parlor has a full page dedicated to coffee beverages and that’s how I know they are in the true coffee making business. I’m not sure if you knew this about me, but I worked at Starbucks for eight years and that can only mean one thing: I am obsessed with coffee.

Barista Parlor’s coffee menu consists of a small selection, but with enough options that everyone can enjoy. The coffee menu is categorized by:

Brewed Coffee

Barista Parlor offers a handful of different brewed coffees. When you order a brewed coffee it comes in a cute little mug with a coffee carafe/server – so you can just keep the coffee flowing! The brewed coffees differentiate from one another because of the flavor notes and the coffee regions that the beans originate from.

To name a few:

  • flavor notes like: lime, floral, grapefruit
  • regions like: Ethiopia, Guatemala, Kenya

Espresso

Here’s what I love about coffee: everyone drinks it differently and enjoys it in a way that is special to them. I love that Barista Parlor offers espresso beverages that are as small as four ounces to as large as 16 ounces.

Specialty Drinks

The specialty drink menu is limited and offers the classic flavors, like caramel, vanilla, and mocha. Outside of flavors, they offer a cold brew. Chase says their cold brew is amazing! Like I said, there is something for everyone – they even have hot chocolate. It would be perfect on a winter day.

Barista Parlor’s speciality drinks are great for your Saturday “cheat day” because they are rich, creamy, and the right amount of sweet. It doesn’t taste like an artificial sugar bomb exploded in your mouth, like some sweet drinks do.

Food

You’re more than likely going to love Barista Parlor’s menu if you are as indecisive as I am when it comes to food. Their menu is the complete opposite of Cheesecake Factory’s 98 page menu. They offer a small selection of food, like breakfast sandwiches and pastries that look delightful. We always order breakfast sandwiches and have no complaints to report. Their biscuits are buttery, soft, and the right amount of crumbly.

This past time I ordered a sausage sandwich and Chase ordered a sausage sandwich with jam.

Interior

Barista Parlor’s interior is a large, open space (a garage to be exact) that is bright and naturally lit by the large windows. A lot of the tables are long communal tables, which makes it seem like a welcoming environment. At the Germantown location you can sit at the wrap around bar and watch the coffees be made. While a lot of people were eating breakfast here, a lot of people were also enjoying their cup of coffee and working. It seems like a great atmosphere to get some work done as well.

Sometimes it’s too early to think, which is why you will love the simplicity of Barista Parlor. This is a perfect place to enjoy that morning cup of coffee with a friend or indulge in breakfast sandwich that tastes like it was made with the freshest ingredients. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

However, if you are looking for mimosas and crepes topped with bananas, strawberries under a mountain of whipped cream drizzled with Nutella (ok yum! now I need crepes)  – I’m not sure this is the spot for you today.
