Omg, hi! I am so excited to *finally* be logged on… after a two month hiatus and about 17 failed password attempts… I couldn’t be happier to be greeting you!
I know, I know, I know.. you’re mad at me. I’m mad at me – I was doing so well with sharing my favorite travel photos, but I stopped. I can’t begin to tell you how busy I was every weekend in September and every weekend in October and part of November. Multiple weekends of travel, weddings, bachelorettes… crazy! I’m finally back in my cozy apartment for the rest of the year and I will be sure to make very minimal plans.
Where did the time go? I feel like I created TwoWeeksPaidVacation, I blinked my eyes, and then the next thing I know, two months go by and I haven’t posted a.single.blog.post. Sigh, Anyway, these last two months have been hectic (busy/work/adulting), so it really had me reflecting on life, my goals, and my dreams.
When I originally created TWPV, I had massive luxury travel plans in my head, but that’s a lot harder to follow through with when you’re in debt (we will save that for a rainy day) and have a guilty conscience. I thought traveling would make me happier and I know the cultural experiences would too – but as the months went on that I spent in Ohio and not seeing the world, I started finding new hobbies: baking, cooking, photography, and reading. My view on life started to shift before my very eyes. I needed to be happy with myself before anything could make me truly happy. There are days I literally want to scream at the top of my lungs because I’m so happy. I know that sounds so corny.. but it’s true! I genuinely believe it’s because of the new hobbies I’ve picked up and feel like I’m bringing something more to the table than just myself, which makes me feel fulfilled.
This brings me to my main point: we are all constantly growing and changing. We don’t know what our interests will be six months from now. Hell, I used to hate cooking and would only make spaghetti, chicken breasts, and potato soup that I learned in my eighth grade home economics class (Hi, Mrs. Karne.. TY for the best potato soup recipe ever). Now, I am obsessed with cooking. I spend my saturday mornings baking recipes I’ve never tried before and never thought I would try (quiche, bacon cheddar chive scones, homemade biscuits & turkey sausage gravy, liège waffles) who knew it would be so easy to follow a recipe?! And I mean I will spend hours in the kitchen. WE DON’T EVEN HAVE A DISHWASHER. My best friend and I even started a dinner club.
This post is a reintroduction of TwoWeeksPaidVacation – while it’s intended purpose was to be a travel blog, the realistic piece is that I only have so much time from work to take a vacation – I have so many other topics/stories that I could share about my daily life that happen while working in Human Resources. I wan to inspire people to find a hobby(ies)… but I didn’t wake up one morning with a hobby. I needed to adult first – it started with organization…….
You’ll see in a few days!
